Tipsy in Madras: A complete guide to 80s preppy drinking

Rate this book
To capitalize on the resurgence in popularity of preppy style as well as theme drink books, Tipsy in Madras trips down memory lane to reveal a time when clothes were bright and the drinks were strong.

Remember the days of sipping Cape Codders in Cape Cod? Bloody Marys over brunch in SoHo? And Old Fashioneds at the Harvard Club?

No?

Doesn't matter. The 80s may be over, but the preppy attitude that pervaded the era lives on in classic drinks with a kick. Tipsy in Madras will help readers "prep" their bar, discern the brands to have on hand, mix their drinks, and delve into the timeless lifestyle. Wanna-bes and prepster hold-outs will get insight into preppy drinking fashion, customs, literature, and more-and answers to such essential preppy questions

Do Brahmins drink beer?

To monogram or not to monogram?

Where does one find authentic prep school mugs?

What are the best preppy movies to drink by?

This book is hysterical - the only bar guide I've ever read from cover to cover.

We have to encourage a return to traditional moral values. Most importantly, we have to promote general social concern and less materialism in young people.

Totally stupid. Written by two people with no sense of humor, even though they both think they are , "The cat's Pajamas". A stupid reference to two stupid 30 to 40 something KIDS. Writing about something they know nothing about. So I guess that makes them Pros and the book should sell. Nah, on the remainder table before you could sneeze. Save your money. The cocktails are not original, nor are the little tales told. Go to a bar and have a great drink designed by the bartender. He probably has a better view of the world and has really been out of the States and even drinks so he knows what is fun to drink. And you don,t have to dig up those old madras shorts you should have thrown out.
